Please join the College of Continuing Studies at The University of Alabama in celebrating our 100th year of operation during the 2018-19 academic year. Our College traces its origins to the creation of the University's Extension Division in 1919. While the content of our continuing and professional education courses has changed over the decades, our mission to extend the University's resources and programs to broader populations has always been constant. CCS has stayed on the leading edge of innovation in courses by distance for working professionals. Beginning as correspondence courses by mail, our continuing education classes have evolved through broadcast television, VHS cassettes and expanded into internet-based distribution. Today, the College offers educational, consultative, enrichment and lifelong learning programs for a wide variety of student populations in Alabama, across the country and around the world. With more than 200 employees and a budget 10,000 times larger than its first year, CCS continues to stay at the forefront in technology use for teaching and learning at a distance.
